Debra Meiburg MW Meets the Winemaker 170: Pio Boffa, Pio Cesare

Debra meets with Pio Boffa of Pio Cesare, a traditional Barolo winemaker, whose family has been producing Barolo for over 130 years. Pio tells Debra the key feature of making traditional Barolo is to have a balance of different single vineyards among the Barolo region, giving the wine different elements from the entire terroir. He believes all wine lovers will wind up with two ultimate varieties in the end, one of which is Nebbiolo from Barolo.
