Debra Meiburg MW Meet the Winemaker 211: Marco Fantinel, Fantinel

Debra interviews Marco Fantinel of Fantinel, a top producer in Italy’s Friuli region established in 1969. Marco gives an overview of the region, and discusses why the small percentage of whites they produce are a major contributor to Italy’s quality white wines, and why their whites have so much flavour. He goes on to talk about Italy’s great indigenous grape varieties, including the famous picolit wine, which they are one of the biggest producers of. They discuss the acidic whites of the North, how they pair with Italian and Asian food, and Marco offers an introduction to Fantinel’s famous Prosecco.
