Debra Meiburg MW Meets the Winemaker 200: Giancarlo Pacenti, Siro Pacenti

Debra meets Giancarlo Pacenti for the first time and gets an overview of Siro Pacenti, his family-owned and run winery in Italy’s Montalcino region. They discuss the evolution of Siro Pacenti’s wines from Giancarlo’s first vintage in 1988 to today, the aging techniques used at the winery, as well as the differences between the vineyards on the north and south side of the hill of Montalcino. Debra ends by digging for dirt on any changes in the regulatory system in Montalcino, as well as getting some tasting notes on the Sangiovese of Montalcino, ideal for those who’ve never tried this grape variety and style before.
